Deep in the archives

I got my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic with flipflash when I was something like seven. My first in demand picture was taken when I was ten (good timing is everything - keep that camera handy!). This is the first enlargement that I ever made of one of my images. It was taken when I was 12, I think. It was either on the Instamatic, or perhaps I had graduated to my Minolta 35mm point and shoot. This is Cracker Jack and her first foal. Can you guess her name? Toy Surprise, of course! They were at Camp Friendship in Palmyra, VA. The Riding Camp was run by Davera Ackenbom. I consider Davera my mentor still, and my good friend. She will be featured on equigraphic.com, as will many of her genius horses. Davera is a horse woman, through and through. National champion rider (side saddle hunter!!), trainer, teacher, breeder, and she knows her pups, too. She has a new farm this year. I hope I'll be able to point you to her site soon.
